ECW Plant Sale Fundraiser
The ECW is having its annual Plant Sale Fund Raiser together with Stuver’s Riverside Nursery. Coupons are now available. Stuver’s coupons are available for • A flat of annual flowers (8 market packs) for $14.50 • A hanging basket/pouch for $19.00.
Coupons are available in the church office and can be redeemed at Stuver’s Nursery for the flowers of your choice until June 8, 2025.For best selection it is recommended that you shop early.
There are a few changes to the program this year:
• Flat coupons will be for flats (8 market packs) of annual flowers only. Perennials are not included in the fundraiser.
• Annual flowers sold in 4 ½ inch pots are not included in the fundraiser. They will be sold individually.
• Flats of vegetables are $16.50 and can be purchased with a Flat coupon plus an additional $2.00.
• Flowers and vegetables cannot be mixed in one flat because of the price difference.
Stuver’s Riverside Nursery will reimburse the ECW $3.00 for each flat coupon and $5.00 for each basket/pouch coupon sold. No sales tax is paid because this is a fundraiser.

As the warm weather settles in and the plants begin to bloom, the weeds begin to crop up and the gardens need attention! Ash Wednesday Liturgy and Ashes to Go March 5, 2025
On Ash Wednesday March 5, 2025 St. Mark’s is offering an Ash Wednesday Holy Eucharist service with Imposition of Ashes in-person and via Zoom and Ashes to Go. The worship service and Ashes to Go are free. Everyone is welcome.
The Ash Wednesday Liturgy with Imposition of Ashes will be offered in the church sanctuary at 5:30PM in-person and via Zoom. Masks are optional. If you do not have time to participate in an Ash Wednesday worship service, but would like to have ashes imposed on you, try our Ashes to Go in Central Park, downtown Johnstown. The Reverend Nancy Threadgill will be on hand to impose ashes from 8:00AM-10:00AM and 2:00PM-4:00PM.
Ashes are imposed (laid) on the heads of participants on Ash Wednesday as a sign of mortality and penitence. The ashes are imposed with the words, “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return” (Book of Common Prayer, p. 265). Ashes are typically imposed by inscribing a cross on the forehead. The imposition of ashes has been practiced on Ash Wednesday since the ninth century. Anyone who desires to receive them is welcome to do so.
Ham Loaf Sale Taking Orders through March 6
Ham loaves are for sale frozen with glazing sauce and baking instructions included. A one-pound loaf costs $9. A two-pound loaf costs $17. Lenten Quiet Day Saturday March 22 from 9:00AM – 1:00PMIn-person and via Zoom
A Quiet Day provides respite away from the busyness of life, a time to reflect, and rest in God’s presence. During alternating quiet time and guided meditations, participants find spiritual
refreshment through prayer, reading, journaling, drawing, or walking meditation. Participants are asked not to talk until after final prayers. The event concludes with a communal vegetarian lunch. Quiet Days frequently are held during Advent and Lent. Though the structure of the event remains the same from year to year, the topic differs for each event. The topic of our 2025 Lenten Quiet Day is “What is the purpose of Lent?” The event is free. All are welcome. Both parishes surveyed their parishioners last autumn to see what service times they preferred. Both parishes selected these two times. We are testing the waters to see how this schedule works for both parishes in preparation for our sharing a full-time Priest-in-Charge in the near future.

Annual Budget Meeting Sunday January 26, 2025following the 9:00AM Worship Service
All members of St. Mark’s are strongly encouraged to attend this important meeting. We will be reviewing and voting to approve the 2025 Parish Budget and authorize transfers from our Trust Accounts. Thanksgiving will be here again in a few weeks and here at St. Mark’s Pet Pantry we are hoping the good and faithful folks that always come through for us and allow us to stay open, will once again make this happen.
It’s been a busy expensive year but we have managed to help all who come each month. It varies between 140 to 150 families each month.
In October we helped to feed 196 dogs, 34 puppies and 610 cats, 114 kittens, not to mention the food we give extra to people to feed the feral cats, over a 1/3 of the cats total are feral.
Total amounts for the year to date from January are dry food 9,234lbs for dogs and 12,762lbs for cats.
