Service and Outreach Ministries

Animal Welfare/Pet Food Pantry Ministry

The Animal Welfare Ministry follows the teachings of St. Francis of Assisi by reaching out to show love and compassion for all God’s creatures. We work in alliance with various  organizations committed to humane treatment of animals and strengthening of the human/animal bond. This ministry is funded through donations from individuals and outside organizations. We ask our parish families to make a special donation on the first Sunday of each month to support the Animal Welfare Ministry. Please mark your donation as being for the Animal Welfare Ministry. Our unique contribution to this work in our geographic area is our Pet Food Pantry Ministry. Additional volunteers are always welcome. Contact the Church Secretary to volunteer.

Pet Food Pantry Ministry

Our Pet Food Pantry Ministry aims to help low-income individuals and families maintain and care for their pets by providing supplemental food, treats and occasional toys for dogs, cats, puppies and kittens. The pantry is open from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month. (Day may vary occasionally so check the Calendar of Events on this website, St. Mark’s Episcopal Church Facebook page or the Church Office before coming to the church.) Please bring bags in which to carry your pet food. If you are coming to the Pet Food Pantry for the first time, please bring your photo ID and proof-of-income (ACCESS card is fine). We also ask for a $1 donation to help defray our costs. We do not deliver.

Donations of pet food and money to purchase food are most welcome and needed to ensure the continuance of the Pet Food Pantry. Monetary donations can be made with PayPal or credit card via Donate on the main menu or mailed to the Church Office.

A Prayer for Animals and Those Who Care for Them

Dear God, You have given us care over all living things; protect and bless the animals who give us companionship and delight and make us their true friends and worthy companions.  Amen.

Rental of our Parish Hall and Kitchen

Our Parish Hall and Kitchen are available for one-time or recurring rental by outside individuals and groups. Preference is given to individuals or groups whose members are also parishioners of St. Mark’s.  Examples of groups who have rented our Parish Hall include Put People First, Unity Coalition, Allied Artists, Church Women United, a medieval group, and a retirees’ luncheon group. The spaces also can be rented for wedding showers and receptions, birthday parties, retirement parties, baby showers, and similar activities. Rental bookings and fees are scheduled at the discretion of our Priest. Please contact the Church Office for additional information.
